Moss Removal in Roof Maintenance
As well as algae & lichen, MossGo Pro is extremely effective in removing moss from roof surfaces. Although moss is expected to return over time, its rate of growth is significantly reduced.
What Exactly is Moss?
Moss is a combination of a fungi and an algae living in a mutually beneficial arrangement. The algae feeds the fungi which in turn provides moisture and shelter. MossGo Pro is a potent algaecide which disturbs this symbiotic arrangement and kills the moss within 3 and 7 days. The fungi becomes brown and withers away. With the help of the elements the moss balls fall into gutter.
Removing Moss: A Simple Application
A simple spray is enough to begin the self-cleansing process flawlessly. If the roof is in partial shadow, or is more heavily contaminated, a sweep is recommended before hand, ensuring a continuous soak of the substrate. It will also avoid excessive falls in the gutter.
The roof to the left was shadowed by overhanging branches and was not prepared properly prior to being treated with MossGo Pro. As a result, the algae has disappeared but some of the moss has not. Further soaking with MossGo Pro will clean the roof completely.
If the roof is under trees, proper roof maintenance will involve gently removing moss manually followed by liberal spraying.
Removing the moss is always more consistent when spraying is undertaken on a surface free from debris and excessive or predictable growth.
The splash zone from aluminium TV aerials often provides the initial breeding ground for moss growth. Removing the moss first with a bristle broom or light jetting (downwards) will ensure thorough cleaning of the tile below after spraying.
