Treatment Time Frame

MossGo Pro is a roof treatment against moss, algae and lichen. MossGo Pro is a biocide.

It kills micro-organisms which colonise external surfaces. This includes viruses, bacteria and algae. When the algae within the lichen and moss die, the whole organism dies and disappears without reproducing. Cleaning tiles using MossGo Pro is the most durable option.

How long does MossGo Pro take to act?

MossGo Pro starts to act immediately and usually begins to produces results within 24 hours but some organisms with will take time to wither away.

Moss usually begins to wither within 24 hours. They usually start falling down within a few days and will continue to fall until the last one. The exposure to wind and driving rain of the building is the main factor influencing the rate at witch the moss balls will fall. Frost and snow have a positive influence on the process.

Some well attached growth may take 6 to 9 months to substantially decay and fall.

Under trees or at low pitch the moss needs removing before of after the treatment, but preferably before.

Larger lumps may revive if not soaked thoroughly : They should be removed.

A spigot filter should be fitted at down pipe inlets to prevent blockage.

Algae dies almost immediately. If the layer is thick, a short lived white discolouration takes place within a day or so. Dead algae are rapidly dispersed. Rendered external surfaces in coastal environments are also cleaned from red algae.

Lichen are well-encrusted and take longer to fall away. Dead lichen become soggy with rain, and curl when dry. After many cycles they finally drop. Cleaning lichen without damaging the substrate is a patient undertaking. Lichen begin to fall within a few weeks, but some well etched patches can linger for months before falling.

Roof Preparation

Dark background discolouration washes away over a period stretching from a few weeks to several months depending on the substrate porosity. On concrete tiles the original colour is by and large recovered in 3 to 9 months. On man made slates the matt brownish layer disappears within 4 to 8 weeks.

Environmental Footprint

MossGo Pro is a fast degrading product. 48 hours after application about 85% of the active has already broken down. There is no durable environmental footprint. Short lived as it is MossGo Pro is nevertheless a powerful algaecide, and concentrate should not be allowed to spill in watercourses. If spray drift is likely to be a problem cleaning tiles should be avoided on windy days.

Safety at Work

The issue of safety at work is paramount to roof maintenance. Each site has to be evaluated and safe working methods established. Suitable protection should be worn against spray drift. After work, it is recommended to wash exposed skin with fresh water.
